This pack is crafted for both beginner and experienced artists alike. Whether you are seeking a creative activity for your next gathering or simply want to have fun, all you need is a piece of paper and a box of coloured pencils.
Here’s the essential takeaway – these guidelines are meant to be gentle suggestions rather than strict rules. Think of them as a springboard for your creative pursuits!
ART MATERIALS
This deck is based on variations of 11 common colours. You can use any art materials you have on hand from coloured pencils, paint or even coloured paper.
SUBSTRATE
(the surface you create on, eg. paper, canvas etc.) This is up to you, although what choice of art materials may dictate what substrate you use. Experimenting with different surfaces could open up more creative pathways.
GUIDELINES
Each category is colour coded so you just need to pick one of each colour to begin. Arrange them face down within their categories, to add some mystery to your choice. Just choose an orange vase, green flower, blue pattern and a grey colour card to start. These 4 cards will be the inspiration for your unique composition.
Feeling more adventurous? Add in a pink extension card or two for an extra twist. Remember, there are no fixed rules embrace the freedom to explore your artistic journey!
There are 59,049 different design combinations, just using these 45 Cue Cards. Add in different art materials and substrates and the possibilities are endless.
VASE CARDS
The shape provided is just a guide and it is your drawing of that shape that will make your vase unique.
PATTERN CARDS
Each pattern provided is just a guide, you can use part or all of it. Repeat the pattern in the background or maybe use it to decorate your vase.
COLOUR CARDS
The colour cards provide you with 4 colours but feel free to add white or black to your palette. You can also create new colours by mixing any combination of your 4 colours. The colours are named to correspond to most art materials: paint, coloured pencils, pastels or oil pastels. If you can’t match the colour by name then choose the closest colour.
FLOWER CARDS
Your flower cards are your inspiration to create your arrangement in your still life. Feel free to delete or add more flowers and leaves to your bunch.
EXTENSION CARDS
Each card provides an extension opportunity, another creative trigger to prompt you to take your composition to a new level. You can use as many of these cards as you like, or don’t use them at all.
