What a great 2 hours we had, painting, a little champagne and everyone even learnt a little about Picasso.

If we look at Picasso’s life we can learn from him. He was born into a family of modest means, his father was an art teacher and mother a housewife. He didn’t inherit his wealth from his parents; he built his own through his creativity and his art.

Up until APRIL 2022 he held first place, certified by the Guinness World Records as history’s most prolific visual artist: 135000 paintings and designs, 100000 prints and engravings, 34000book illustrations and 300 sculptures and ceramics.

When he died in 1973 he was 91 and had an estimated net worth of $500 million although some say that it was much higher than that.
What was his secret ? He worked very hard every day. He had a strict work routine and structure to his day.

He was asked once, “ Where do you get your ideas from?” He answered, “Ideas are simply starting points….as soon as I start to work, others well up in my pen. To know what you’re going to draw, you have to begin drawing.”
He told one of his friends in his own words that creativity is a “DO”

Having worked in the Education sector at all levels I have seen first hand the impact the arts can have on the education of students, whether they are children or adults.

The Arts are not just about making pretty pictures, acting on a stage, playing an instrument or providing relaxation... All ARTS education is about teaching to see, think and respond differently. A skill that is essential in all lives.
